Maria Arias De Cabrera
Born in Caracas in 1964, she is a Social Communicator and Graphic Designer, graduated from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV). She has built a solid career in media, advertising agencies, and the educational field. Over the years, she has worked in editorial design and graphic production for newspapers, weekly publications, and institutional campaigns. She has also served as a Graphic Design teacher at the secondary education level. Her academic background is further enriched by a Diploma in Digital Teaching Competencies, which enabled her to effectively integrate technological tools into the teaching-learning process.
Parallel to her professional work, she has developed an outstanding artistic career as a choral singer, beginning at age 12 in the renowned children’s choir Los Tucusitos, conducted by Moisés Peña in Caracas. Since then, she has been a part of numerous choral ensembles, from school groups to advanced-level choirs, such as the Choir of the Faculty of Sciences at UCV, where she sang for seven years under the direction of her brother, Eduardo Arias.
From 1988 to 1990, she studied classical voice with Venezuelan opera singer Lotty Ipinza. In 1990, she joined the soprano section of the Rafael Suárez Polyphonic Choir, a distinguished ensemble that in 2024 celebrated 50 years of uninterrupted musical excellence. Founded by Professor María Colón de Cabrera, recipient of the 1993 Venezuelan National Music Prize, the choir has performed major symphonic-choral works, including Bolívar by Darius Milhaud, Cantata Criolla by Antonio Estévez, Messiah by G.F. Handel, Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, among many others.
Throughout her more than three decades with the Rafael Suárez Polyphonic Choir, she represented Venezuela on international stages, earning distinctions such as First Prize at the Neuchâtel International Choir Competition in Switzerland (1991) and Gold and Silver Diplomas at the World Choir Games in Cincinnati, USA (2012).
Since April 2023, she has continued her artistic journey as an active member of the Hispanic Choir of Texas in Houston, singing in the soprano section. With a unique blend of experience in visual communication, education, and vocal art, she stands out for her commitment to excellence, artistic sensibility, and holistic approach to personal and artistic development.
