Simón Cabrera

Born in Caracas, in the bosom of a family of musicians, he began his musical studies in 1983 at the "José Reyna" School of Music, where he studied Theory and Solfeggio and Musical Dictation. In 2014, he completed his clarinet studies under the tutelage of Professor Ramón Grillet. In 2016, he finished his studies in Chamber Music with Professor Néstor Bruzual, and in 2018, he completed a course in Analysis of Musical Forms and the first year of complementary piano with Prof. Alirio Bastidas. From 2013, he continued his musical studies at the National School of Music "Juan Manuel Olivares", where he studied Harmony, History of Music, Aesthetics, Counterpoint, Fugue, and Small Musical Forms with Professors María Luisa Arencibia, Zaira García, and Miguel Astor. He was a founding member of the Band of the "José Reyna" School of Music, where he served as first clarinet and soloist of different musical pieces. He was also a member of the Band of the Fire Department of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV). In addition, he was part of the "Rafael Suárez" Polyphonic Choir, where he was head of strings for the tenors and participated as a vocal soloist and instrumentalist in numerous performances and musical productions organized by the choir. In 2024, he was a professor of musical language in the Texas System. Currently, he is part of the tenor string of the Hispanic Choir under the direction of master Cruz Cabrera, where he is also assistant to the musical director. He is a member of the Musical Ministry "Parroquia Virtual Venezolana" (PVV) and has participated as a clarinetist in the “Venezuela Cuatro Ensemble”, all based in Houston. He has a degree in Statistical Sciences and a Specialist in Data Analysis in Social Sciences, graduated from the Central University of Venezuela. In addition, he served as a part-time professor for 16 years at the School of Sociology of that university, and as head of the Statistics Section of the Pedagogical Institute of Caracas for more than two decades.
