Instrumentalist & Choral Singer Oboe • English Horn • Contralto Yarely Luces, originally from Los Teques (Venezuela) and currently based in Houston (USA), is a distinguished performer on the oboe and English horn, as well as a choral contralto. Her musical training began in Venezuela’s National System of Orchestras, where she studied violin, recorder, and oboe, joining the Youth and Symphony Orchestra of the State of Miranda as second oboe. She later became principal English horn of the Miranda Symphony Orchestra, where she performed for more than seven years. She pursued formal studies at the Simón Bolívar Conservatory under the guidance of maestros Lido Guarnieri and Miguel Rutigliano, complemented by further education at the José Ángel Lamas School and IUDEM, focusing on music history, art history, and composition. Yarely has performed as an English horn soloist and is currently a member of the Hispanic American Choir of Houston, singing as a contralto with a repertoire that spans Latin American, sacred, and classical music.
